The California State Assembly approved a bill that bans carbonated beverages in high schools -- both in vending machines and cafeterias. The state senate and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger need to approve the bill before it becomes law, but have already indicated that they will do so. The ban will be phased in gradually from 2007 to 2009.
